SaPAU FORMATION 

SOUTH  AFRICAN PETROL ATTENDANT UNION FORMATION 

SAPAU was established on 27 February 2020 by former members of the South African Government & Entrepreneurs structures who saw a need for protection of the rights & interests of members in protection. SAPAU has 2 years of experience in dealing with the challenges of members in Protection.

After a long legal battle which SAPAU started, the Constitutional Court in 2021 allowed Petrol Attendant members the legal right to form & join Petrol Attendant trade unions. Since then SAPAU has won several landmark decisions in the Constitutional Court affirming & protecting the rights, interests & job protection of petrol attendant members.

The South African Petrol Attendant Union of Trade Unions (SAPAU) SERVICE CHARTER.

We the members, leadership and staff of the SAPAU affiliated union commit to working tirelessly towards achieving the vision, values, commitments and responsibilities spelled out in this SAPAU Service Charter. We will constantly strive for these ideals to be realised with all our might; united in action, independent in spirit, and always in the interest of members and the working class more broadly.

The PALA Membership Benefit is a Legal Cost & Expenses Insurance Cover Benefit as well as free access to our Chief Legal Guarder and HR Specialist with PALASA.

PALA (Petrol Attendant’s Legal Advisor) 

This Benefit covers the Legal Costs and Expenses of members of SAPAU, should a member or his/her spouse and/or dependent require a lawyer to represent him/her/them in litigation proceedings; provided that the terms and conditions of the Membership Certificate Schedule are complied with by the member.

PALASA (Petrol Attendant  Legal Assistance of South Africa).

Membership benefits include free legal advice, assistance and representation in all areas of Law (Petrol Attendant Law, Criminal Law, and Civil Law) as well as HR & Labour Law related aspects by PALASA’s legal experts. This includes, but is not limited to, Career Consultations and Petrol Attendant Grievance Procedures. PALASA legal is situated within the SAPAU HQ and is accessible by telephonic, electronic and personal walk in consultations.

1. The NEC of the petrol Attendant  union may demand the recall of any National, Provincial,

local office bearers or who serve on any outside body if such is demanded by two

thirds of the integrate;

2. The integrity must give notice of their intention to appeal to the General Secretary within 30

days of the decision.

Procedure
3. If the Central Committee resolves that the Petrol Attendant Union shall become a party to
any outsider entity, the National Office Bearers shall make recommendation on the
Petrol Attendant Union nomine to the National Executive Committee subject to ratification
by the Central Committee.
